Camping & mobile home holidays in the Costa Brava by the Mediterranean Sea

Campsites we feature on the Costa Brava

A first class campsite, Camping Cala Gogo  at Plata d'Aro has woodland to one side and the crystal clear waters of the Med on the other. There is a 2 pool water complex  and the campsite has access to it's own private beach which is suitable for all ages.

A large, lively campsite, the 5* Camping Castell Montgri, near Estartit, has wonderful sea views & is just 1.5 kms from the beach for sunbathing & watersports. This campsite has 3 pool complexes with water slides, bars, sun terraces and a great restaurant.

With direct beach access the 4* Camping Nautic Almata is set beside the Empordá nature reserve. Everything you want in a campsite is here: on site diving lessons, horse riding & masses more on and off site amenities.

The 5* Internacional de Calonge campsite at Plata d'Aro is just 200 metres from their private beach with windsurfing & water sports & has a great range of facilities for all. The site is ideal for families with teenagers.

A superb campsite, the 5* Camping Cypsela has great on site facilities with beaches nearby. The campsite is just 1 hour away from the French Border. Here there is a massive pool complex, Pirate Ship, gym & on site night club.

With a great dolphin shaped pool complex, the 4* El Delfin Verde campsite has excellent on site facilities and it's own beach! There are concerts here, dance nights, disco, and a full range of amenities.

The 4* Camping la Siesta is a lively campsite close to a lovely beach and set among pine trees. This site has something for everyone, including a fabulous pool complex.

The 4* Camping Tucan is located between Tossa and Llorret centre and is within easy reach of Barcelona. This campsite is near to a lovely beach and has something for everyone, especially the pool complex with slides and the host of other onsite facilities.

We have all heard of the Costa Brava of course but do we all know exactly where it is? Well in the north it adjoins the French Border near to Perpignan on the Mediterranean Sea, and it extends southwards encompassing many well known Spanish resorts starting with Portbou, Colera and Llanca and down past the Golf de Roses, past L’Escala and the famous resort of Estartit.

Following the coastline where most of the resorts are located we then get to the very pretty resort of Calella de Palafrugell which has shops, resorts and housing at the top of the town and a lovely little beach at the bottom. Further on we have the resort towns of Palamos, Platja d'Aro and finally Tossa del Mar and Lloret del Mar in the extreme south.

Most of these resorts offer camping and mobile home holidays and they are kept very busy in the high season.Calella de Palafrugel

Beaches of the Costa Brava

Well, there are simply masses of beaches on the Costa Brava coast, and a great many of them are made of soft, golden sand, but that is not something you can bank on as the varieties of sand alter from beach to beach and you may find the odd one or two made from coarser material and, indeed, be a different colour.

Some beaches have coarse pebbles instead of sand but usually this is fine enough to walk and lie on, but generally it is not suitable for the building of sand castles as you need the finer stuff for that.

Most of the tourist  beaches — certainly the ones that cater to tourists — have plenty of facilities, including toilets, access for the disabled, lifeguards during the high seasons, on-beach open showers, and first-aid stations. In fact they possibly have better better all round facilities than those in the UK.

In many places kiosks are set up along the boulevards, and some beaches have their own on-beach bars and restaurants.

Topless & Nude Bathing

The laws here  on the Costa Brava are quite relaxed and there are no particular laws banning nude sunbathing or swimming, so topless sunbathing is the norm on all Spanish beaches, even though any Americans viewing half naked bodies may have apoplectic fits (they tend to be a tad prudish)

Naked sunbathing and swimming is not against the law here provided there is no sex involved. Get involved in that and you can expect to spend the rest of your holiday in the brig!
