Lake Garda is the largest of the Italian Lakes and covers an area of 143 square miles. The total length is 34 miles and the width varies from 2 miles at the narrowest part to 11 miles at the widest part. The total shoreline, or circumference, of Lake Garda is 90 miles of which there is over 28 miles of free beaches!!!
The scenery around the lake is spectacularly breathtaking and very relaxing but there are physical activities if you feel the need to do more than admire the scenery, for instance; water sports on the lake include swimming of course, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, jet skiing and kite surfing.
Out of the lake there is golf, tennis, mountain biking, paragliding and rock climbing (take care), so with all these no camping holiday there should be dull!
The lake has been popular with British tourists for camping holidays here for a long time now, and no wonder because when you think about it this is as good as a beach holiday anytime!
The south eastern tip of Lake Garda is known as the 'Olive Tree Riviera' which offers the opportunity of visiting a lovely set of nearby villages to explore such as Brescia, Moniga, Manerba and Peschiera, and also the walled city of Mantua which is a sight to be seen. Of course, you can also take a boat trip and see these villages from the lake as well.
There are also other Italian lakes you may wish to visit such as lakes Maggiore and Idro which are just as beautiful as Garda but less famous, and so probably less busy.
Thanks to the close proximity of Bergamo, Brescia and Verona airports, camping and mobile home holidays here Italian lakes are a popular fly/drive option, but you can't really beat having your own transport in a place like this when you feel the need to get around and about.Campsites we promote around Lake Garda are:Camping Europa Silvella, Camping Eden, Camping Bella Italia, Camping Butterfly, Camping San Francesco, Camping Piantelle, Camping Cisano San Vito, Camping Del Garda Village, Camping Fornella, Altomincio Family Park, Weekend Campsite, Serenella Campsite
