Camping holiday information for Longeville sur Mer, Vendee
Now we have to be honest when writing these pages, so for a start we must point out that Longeville sur Mer is not actually 'sur Mer' though it isn't far off some seriously good Blue Flag beaches (please see the page about les Conches).
That shouldn't put off anyone wanting a camping or mobile home holiday here because this is a really wonderful little place. Longeville used to be sur Mer but the land and sea both decided to change their boundaries over the centuries leaving the town just a tad inland.
I (the Editor) and my family have spent many happy holidays both in Longeville, les Conches nearby and indeed, the whole of the Vendee region so I can state without contradiction that Longeville is one place I would love to live in.
As the town is not quite on the seafront it appears not to have a beach, but in fact the town controls the beaches around here and the camping fraternity, or at least those in the know, use the beach near to les Conches for several good reasons.
It is excellent sand for a start, is safe for swimming and is supervised during the high season. That beach has a large car park and both the beach and park are used by locals in the evenings and weekends.
They are drawn here by the surfing opportunities as this is one of the best surfing beaches in the Vendée and people come from all over northern Europe just to surf here.
Longeville the town is equally nice and sits on a little hill a couple of miles from the beach. There are lovely little shops, a newsagent who sells English papers, and a market several times a week in the main square, and in that square is an extremely old church well worth having a look at.
Longeville is a wonderful place for you to take a camping holiday, and if you do we are pretty certain you will want to return some day.
