Camping & mobile home holidays on the Cote d'Azur, south of France
The Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, or the Cote d'Azur as we call it, starts for the purposes of camping holidays, around the city of Toulon and carries on eastwards along the Mediterranean coast to the French/Italian border just past Monaco. All of the camping or mobile holiday resorts we mention on other pages are near to the coast.
The Cote d'Azur includes all the towns and cities associated with film stars starting with the beautiful town of St Tropez, Frejus, St Raphael, Cannes, Nice, Monaco. These are all places where the 'beautiful people' congregate to show off their yachts and be noticed by peasants such as us on camping holidays in the vicinity.
Now if you are into celebrities then there is nowhere on earth better for celebrity spotting than the Cote d'Azur, especially in summer time when it is believed that there are more here than in Hollywood. And then there is the Cannes Film Festival which starts the summer holiday season off in the middle of May each year.
Celebrities apart, the Cote d'Azur is a wonderful place for camping holidays and the summer weather is usually hot to very hot, so you need to pack some decent sun screen, but buy all you need here in the UK before you get to France because it will cost you an arm and a leg + some other body parts to buy the same thing on the Cote d'Azur.
And that is the only snag with this part of France; the cost of living. We assure you that camping holidays cost exactly the same as they do anywhere else in France, but anything else you may find to be trés expensive to say the least.
If you are taking a self drive camping holiday as many families do then we recommend that you pack as much in the way of non perishable foodstuffs as you can in the car so that you needn't buy so much when you get there.
Forget the cost of living there and just think of all those miles of wonderful sandy beaches, the azure blue sea and the golden tan you will come home with.
