Camping holidays in and around St Raphael, Cote d'Azur
St Raphael is on the Mediterranean coast slap bang next to its neighbour Frejus, in fact it is difficult to distinguish between the two, though St Raphael lies to the east of Frejus and so is slightly nearer to St Tropez. Both little towns are Meccas for camping and mobile home holidays and they both have the same laid back lifestyle you will find on this part of the Cote d'Azur.
St Raphael lies at the eastern end of the Golfe de Frejus which in turn is a part of the Mediterranean Sea, and the azure blue colour of the sea is where this coast got the name of Cote d'Azur in the first place all those many decades ago. The part of the Med which St Raphael faces is called the Corniche de l'Esterel by the way.
Just around the bay from St Raphael is Cannes where the annual film festival takes place, usually sometime in May, but there may be a few leftover celebs still haunting the region for a few weeks afterwards, so you can do a spot of celebrity spotting if that appeals to you. In fact, if you wander around the harbours where the mega yachts are berthed it would be surprising if you weren't able to spot some celebs.
Frankly, I (the editor) can take em or leave em because there are so many other things to do on a camping holiday such as a variety of different water sports, though no surfing because the Mediterranean tides aren't high enough, but the beaches are superb here and just right for a spot of sunbathing on a lounger with a cold drink or two.
The weather here is usually hot so we repeat here our warning about taking some high factor sun cream with you, but take a tip and buy it in the UK before you get here because the shop prices throughout the length of the Cote d'Azur are breathtakingly high.
Apart from that we are sure you will enjoy your camping holiday in and around St Raphael.
