This is Catalan country so there are many characterful Catalan bars and restaurants, not to mention the popular market quite literally on the doorstep, the tranquillity of this shady site is a particular surprise. The pool complex nevertheless is the centre of the park's animation offering by day or you can seek out the back streets of Picasso's Collioure, one of France's most beautiful old ports.
Camping la Chapelle at Argeles is just a stones throw from the city of Perpignan and the Spanish border is not too far away in the other direction.

Argèles-sur-Mer - this popular seaside resort and fishing village boasts beautiful sandy beaches and rocky coves with the backdrop of the dramatic mountain terrain of the Alberes hills.
Canet Plage - 12 miles - Canet Plage is the seaside resort of the town of Canet en Roussillon. When you are in the heart of the town of Canet you are about 3 km from the sea.
Château de Castelnou - 23 miles - the castle of Castelnou at Thuir was built 988 – 990 to act as a military centre for the area. The building is the best example of a medieval fortress left in Roussillon today.
Carcassone - 78 miles - The city of Carcassone is a perfectly restored medieval town set on a steep bank overlooking the River Aude. The first ramparts were built by the Romans between the 3rd and 4th Centuries but were then improved in the 13th Century through fear of a Spanish invasion.
Canet Plage An impressive 9 km stretch of fine sand. Many water sports are available on the beach in high season. The port end is good for snorkelling.
Banyuls sur mer Excellent beaches next to a charming old fishing village.
Argelès-sur-Mer Lovely sandy beach with lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby.
Collioure A great beach with bays nearby that are ideal for snorkelling.
