Argeles lies on what must be the southernmost shores of France, the Languedoc-Roussillon, and mid way between the city of Perpignan and the Spanish border. It faces the Mediterranean Sea on the Cote Vermeille which also stretches from there to the border with Spain.
This is Catalan country and it is also camping holiday country. Argeles-sur-Mer has the longest beach of Pyrenees Orientales department of the Languedoc, so a variety of watersports activities await you there.
But you may want to do and see other things on your camping holiday here in Argeles than just lazing on the beach or swimming in your pool or the sea. In case you do then may we suggest taking a look at Perpeytuse, the old ruins of a Cathar temple which is on the top of a mountain not far from Argeles. Park the car and follow the route up the mountain. When you are at the top the castle is amazing and you can see right into Andorra and Spain over the mountains. It makes a wonderful day out.
If you are a golfer then there are courses at nearby St Cyprien Plage roughly 9 KMs along the road towards Perpignan.
We all know that most camping holiday resorts are not too hot on the nightlife, Argeles included, but when you walk down Argeles Plage you will see that there are a great many bars and restaurants to choose from; French, Indian, you name it and this is just one more way to end a great day.
