Fouesnant is in the Finistere department of Brittany, and is located in a very sheltered position at the back of the Baie de la Foret behind Cap Coz and near to the camping holiday resort of Beg-Meil. Around the far side of the bay is Concarneau, one of the most productive fishing ports in France.
If beaches are your thing then there are plenty of them here; most are sandy with the odd one being a pebble beach.
Fouesnant is close to the larger camping resort of Benodet which is just a few KMs to the west. It has 15 km of coastline on its south side, with a long beach running between the headlands of Beg-Meil and Mousterlin, as well as the idyllic Cap-Coz just to the east at the top of the Baie de la Foret, all this making it a popular tourist destination.
The local Bretons grow cider apples by the squillion, and these are reckoned to be the source of the best of Breton cider. Every July the locals celebrate their luck in having Mother Nature?s bounty on their doorstep with the 'Fete des Pommiers', or the festival of the apple trees, and there is music, dancing and all kinds of competitions.
You may wish to take a day out of your camping holiday here in Fouesnant to join in if you're there at the right time. We are reliably informed that most of the locals get completely and utterly bladdered on Brittany's finest cider, if they have recovered in time from their celebrations on Bastille Day that is.
Fouesnant has a popular street market in and around the town square every Friday morning, but like all the other markets in France; you have to get there early because they finish about noon.
For water sports enthusiasts there are all manner of activities for you off the beach, and anyone who loves wildlife and walking there is la Foret Fouesnant for you to spend time in spotting the little red squirrels which every wooded area of France seems lucky enough to have in abundance.
We really believe that you will enjoy a camping holiday in Fouesnant to the point where you will feel the need to return some day soon.
