Nearest port: Roscoff - 145km; Nearest airport: Lorient - 65km
Beg-Meil is situated on the south western coast of Finistere in Brittany at one side of the Baie de la Foret and directly opposite its larger neighbour, the Brittany fishing port of Concarneau, one of the busiest fishing ports in all France. Beg-Meil has been a popular camping holiday resort for quite some time now.
Please take a look at our page about Camping de l'Atlantique at Beg-Meil
Now no camping resort by the sea worth its salt is without a good beach, and we can tell you for certain that one of the best sandy beaches in Finistere stretches from Beg Meil to Mousterlin.
Beg-Meil is more a village than a town, and so it has a more laid back atmosphere than some of the larger camping resorts such as Benodet. Beg Meil is a pretty seaside village with restaurants, shops, cafes and children?s beach club in high season, and pleasure boat trips to the Glenan Islands and fishing trips are advertised widely there.
Nearby is the city of Quimper which was originally a Roman settlement, but it has retained an amazing amount of history and so is well worth a visit during you camping holiday in the area.
Quimper is located in the heart of a valley and the centre of this old city is located where the rivers Odet and Steir meet. Throughout the city, the rivers are crossed by small wooden bridges, although other materials are also used. In the old part of the city the streets are cobbled and medieval half timber buildings are common.
When you visit Quimper we strongly advise you to take a Park and Ride because car parking inside the city limits is at a premium.
You may wish to take time out during your camping holiday to do some walking so we can recommend the area behind Fouesnant which is part forest land and part common grassland, both of which are ideal for nature watching or just having a peaceful walk.
