This campsite really is certainly something special. Nestled in the gorgeous green Dordogne countryside, high up on a hill sits the 5* Domaine de la Paille Basse, one of the Castels group of campsites. The site is an old medieval village which has been entirely restored in keeping with the local and historic architecture of this region.
Domaine de la Paille Basse is a fantastic base for an active holiday with lots of activities arranged on site and plenty to do and see off site too. On site the tranquil pool area is the perfect spot to soak up the sunshine and relax. Kids can play around in the children's pool and there are waterslides too for the more adventurous. In the evening, take a seat in the old barn that now houses the pretty restaurant to enjoy some delicious regional dishes.

The area is popular with those looking for an active holiday with lots to explore and discover in the surrounding area. Many trails for hikers and bikers run directly from the campsite which is a great way to explore the local area.
The area surrounding the campsite is very rural but still within easy driving distance of local landmarks. One of the most popular ways to see the Dordogne is from the river. Hire a canoe and enjoy a leisurely paddle through the stunning surroundings. There is an 18 hole golf course nearby and also stables if you fancy exploring the area on horseback. For the water-lovers in the family there’s a large aquapark called Quercyland just a few miles from the campsite. The region is also famous for its culture, history and food – make sure to try some regional delicacies.
