Camping & mobile home holidays around Lake Annecy in the French Alps.

Annecy, the town, is in the Haute-Savoie department in the Rhone-Alpes region in south-eastern France, and it nestles comfortable on the northern tip of Lake Annecy about 35 kilometres south of Geneva, and this is where you will arrive by one means or another for your camping holidays on the banks of the lake, or Lac, high in the French Alps.

Lake Annecy was formed roughly 18,000 years ago when the large alpine glaciers melted and it is the second largest lake in France after the Lac du Bourget, and because of strict environmental regulations introduced in the 1960s it is called Europe's cleanest lake! Lake Annecy is surrounded by mountains which help make it one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe.

A view of Lake AnnecyNow that is a real achievement and if you are a visitor here on a camping or mobile home holiday by the shores of Lake Annecy who wants to do a spot of swimming in the lake it is nice to know that you are unlikely to get any water borne infection, especially in a place such as this which is a popular tourist destination. It is especially good for fishing from a boat too, though you must declare any catch.

The lake covers exactly 2,650 hectares and ranges in depth ranges from 41 and 65 metres. It divides into 2 parts; one large lake and one small, side by side. The small part of the lake is by far the warmer of the two so we recommend that you begin your camping holiday activities on this small lake.

Lake Annecy and beachFloating above the lake you can often see the colourful wings of the para-gliders circling around as this is a very popular activity in the area with several well organised centres offering the chance to try your hand. Flights are in tandem with experienced para-gliders which make it it suitable even for complete beginners.

We are certain you will enjoy a camping or mobile home holiday near to Lake Annecy and are sure that once you have been here you will want to return some day.
